My blogroll has seen a steady rate of growth over the last year or so and topped out at 268 feeds last week. I’m not sure about your reading habits, but that’s a ton of feeds for the time I have to read them. If I missed a day (or God forbid two) of checking my subscriptions, I would easily have 5-6,000 posts to wander through. That was outrageous and I had to dump some feeds.
So, I’ve narrowed my blogroll to 90 (you can see who made the cut by scrolling down and looking left), which is still too many in many circles, and I can breathe in my Bloglines without feeling completely overwhelmed. My goal was to limit myself to 75 feeds, but like many limitations, I think that was foolish to attempt. Instead, I’m going to continue cutting the fat of feeds that I don’t check often or bloggers that aren’t contributing much to expanding my mind.
Small is beautiful!
