Gadgets I’m Loving: Nokia N800 and The Flip Camera

I just got my Nokia N800 today, and I’m in love.  In all honesty, this thing could replace my laptop. Skype, Rhapsody, wifi for my GMail, Google Docs, Google Reader, 30boxes, Twitter, an RSS reader, an email client, a music player, an FM tuner, etc.  Best of all, it’s built on Linux so it’s completely hackable (unlike that closed iPhone).  This is a revolutionary gadget when coupled with my Verizon phone via Bluetooth since most of what I do is web based.  Much easier to snuggle with a baby with a small device like this compared to a laptop!

Secondly, I need to thank Jim Kukral for the motivation to get a Flip camera.  These things are amazing and everyone I show it to loves the simplicity and size.  I’ve put The Flip through a rough week of capturing baby firsts like Mary Hudson’s first visit to the hospital today, and it has performed exceptionally.  If you want a simplistic and cheap video camera, I couldn’t recommend The Flip more.

  • The Flip Video Camera is awesome for the price. I'm blown away at how stable the shots are and the image quality. I posted some demo footage to show off a variety of use scenarios. My Flip goes with me everywhere, just in case I want to shoot video.
