Dan Bricklin's Note Taker and the App That Saved Christmas

Dan Bricklin’s Note Taker app (google it) on the iPhone is just an amazing little piece of software.
Did it save Christmas for me? Well, not really. However, it is a great help for me in getting my mom’s new Asus eee in working shape. The problem is that we meet and exchange gifts at my parent’s camp on Lake Santee, SC that is, while quaint, certainly lacking a web connection (thank goodness I do have 2 bars of ATT service here in the middle of the boondocks). Setting up a netbook without web access is nearly impossible so I fired up Bricklin’s Note Taker on my iPhone and started jotting down notes for apps and such that she’ll be needing so that I can send her the links etc she’ll need asap. I love that I can chat with her and literally scribble down notes on things she needs or wants based on nebulous descriptions of what she’d want a netbook to do. Then, I can transcribe the note (I got the paid version as you should too) or send it as an image via email to my @2DO label in GMail and Backpack. Lovely. Nothing earth shaking, but I felt better about leaving my non-geeky mom with an out-of-the-box netbook instead of the geeked-up experience I want her to have. Next time, I’ll just open the box a little early
