"I Love You Google"
I can’t be the only one person in Asheville that feels a little uneasy about this sort of corporate fascism, right?
I understand the need for fast web connections in school.
Trust me.
But still…
This is just… I don’t know. Do we want our kids to be begging to kiss the ring of corporate monarchs?
Whatever.
I hope Asheville does get Google Fiber so we can have faster pipes. Faster pipes mean better schools. Better schools mean better citizens. Better citizens mean a better Asheville and eventually a better world.
Yet having our kids beg a CORPORATION (that has to answer to stakeholders seeking only profit) for such things seems…dirty.
Aren’t we above that?
“Love” is such a meaningful word. Do we really want to teach our kids to use it in this sort of a context where we’re begging for something of this nature?
Isn’t that setting a bad example as a community?
Just saying.
