Please Write In Your Books
I’ve been in love with this blog for a few months but this post takes the cake:
Adventures in Pencil Integration: when books go social: “‘I hate when students underline their books with those ridiculous pencils,’ a teacher begins.”
Perhaps it’s because I’ve ditched an official “Physical Science Textbook” in favor of a lab notebook and a collection of primary sources I’m putting together at http://texts.griffinscience.com for my 8th graders next year, but the idea of returning to social marginalia is striking and so important for my own educational philosophy.
Regardless, if you’re going to read books (whatever the analog or digital medium)… write in them.
No person is an island, no thought left to itself, no science can be done without verification…
