Twitter and Blogging Wisdom from Doc

exactly…

Doc Searls Weblog · Reliable old blogging: “There’s one Net, one Web and one Twitter. Many paths through the formers and but one through the latter. Note the preposition. I said through. Twitter’s API allows much, but you still have to go through one company’s proprietary system. Not so with the Net, the Web — or blogging. As with the Net and the Web, blogging is NEA. Nobody owns it, Everybody can use (or do) it, and Anybody can improve it.”

As part of my personal “Bringing It All Back Home” initiative, I’ve been looking at how much time/effort I spend curating things into Twitter’s cloud that I’ll end up losing ephemerally once we all move on to the next service (since it doesn’t look like Twitter is going the way of http or IMAP).

Most of that content is trivial and banal, but some of it should stick around so I can dig through it later (or perhaps my children can).

Good and provoking thoughts (as usual) from Doc Searls.
