During my planning period today, I was chatting with a student about Twitter and Facebook.
In the chat, they asked (innocently):
Would you rather have 1 million followers on Twitter or 1 student?
Socrates would be proud.
We’re breaking down sugar bonds with various substances…

strange days indeed.
Fantastic:
Kindle for the Web: “Read a book sample from Amazon.com without leaving your browser. No download or installation required.”
I can’t wait until entire books are available. As much as I hate proprietary lock-down of content, Amazon is doing amazing things with its platform.
(Sorta) Open Web FTW.
< begin Facepalm >:
Report: Poor science education impairs U.S. economy – USATODAY.com: “U.S. mathematics and science K-12 education ranks 48th worldwide.
•49% of U.S. adults don’t know how long it takes for the Earth to circle the sun.”

From a Joe Bower comment on a John Spencer post:
Spencer’s Scratch Pad: Rethinking Homework: “Homework is something to be inspired not assigned.”
Mind-bendingly good.
Nice resource site for FAQ’s regarding iPads in the classroom…
ipad or netbook?: “t is important to make a clear distinction between netbooks and the iPad, or there is a danger that its potential for teaching and learning could be missed by a misunderstanding of how the device differs from what is currently available.”
I wonder how this space will change or evolve in the coming years as ChromeOS and Android netbooks enter the marketplace?
For sure, the future of edu tech (and app development) is with the tablet and mobile device space.
“I know it is wet / And the sun is not sunny.
But we can have / Lots of good fun / that is funny!”

I walked into my office on this wet wet day to find my soon-to-be 3 year old reading “The Cat in the Hat” on my iPad.
Amazing.
Nice bowtie, kid.
