“Just Be Glad People are Reading”
There is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, treeware nor digital…
No More E-Books Vs. Print Books Arguments, OK? : Monkey See : NPR: “Here’s the thing: you don’t have to be a print book person or an e-book person. It’s not an either/or proposition. You can choose to have your text delivered on paper with a pretty cover, or you can choose to have it delivered over the air to your sleek little device. You can even play it way loose and read in both formats! Crazy, right? To have choice. Neither is better or worse — for you, for the economy, for the sake of “responsible self-government.” We should worry less about how people get their books and — say it with me now! — just be glad that people are reading.”
The debate over digital books and paper books has reached an almost religious fever-pitched level, especially in our educational settings.
I’m just glad my students are reading.
There are some volumes of things that need/should be consumed in a certain format (comic books, graphic novels and beautifully type set books come to mind). However, for many texts the form is much less important than the function.
For those of us who love design and form, we’ll always provide a good living for those authors wise enough to know how to tap into devoted communities (as has happened with the music industry).
