mp3 of Bill Clinton’s Speech in Asheville

Bill Clinton gave a stump speech here in Asheville last night at Asheville High (here's a pic from after the speech): Scrutiny Hooligans » Clinton wows ‘em @ Asheville High: "Love him or hate him, President Clinton knows how to deliver a speech. He’s a master at working a crowd even if he’s ultimately preaching to his own choir (reports have come in that several Obama supporters were denied ...

The Ellington Hotel Debate in Asheville

I've been following the Ellington Hotel / Condo issue here in Asheville for a while and I still don't understand the various arguments from the critics ("the building is too high!" "it will cause too much traffic on Biltmore!", etc).  While I am a fan of sustainable growth, it doesn't seem as if the Ellington will add anything unbearable to the Asheville skyline or the already crazy traffic ...

Baby Harrelson Coming Soon

We're in the hospital tonight awaiting the arrival of Baby Harrelson!  Contractions started around 5 and intensified until around 9pm when we decided to head to Mission Hospital here in Asheville. TWiT on Asheville

Showing a little Asheville pride here, but Leo Laporte and John C Dvorak discuss Asheville, NC (beautiful town where I reside of course) on the latest This Week in Tech (one of the most listened to podcasts in the world). They agree that it's a nice little town and Dvorak remarks about the number of hippies. Stay freaky, Asheville. TWiT 116: Dvorak's Pulled Pork BTW, Leo Laporte's weekend radio show, ...

Brewgrass 2007

Brewgrass is a fantastic annual festival held here in Asheville, NC. As you can tell from the name, the main focus of the festival is combining great micro-brews from across the US with bluegrass music. I highly recommend if you're into either of those noble pursuits. Here's a quick vid I took at the festival yesterday:

Reasons to Love Asheville

Sidewalk existentialism (or nihilism? or optimism?) from the great Ashevegas blog. Socrates would be in Asheville if he were still around. Ashvegas - Journal - Good question

No Rain, No Rain!

Blind Melon sang it best... "And I start to complain that there's no rain And all I can do is read a book to stay awake And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape " Asheville has been completely dry and barren over the past month.  However, we had a good soaking rain yesterday and today.  So, let's hope El and baal have heard our cries to the storm ...

Wintergreen Falls Hike

Anna, Schaefer, Macy and I went to DuPont State Forest just outside of Brevard, NC for a nice hike on Sunday. We had a great time and Macy is quite the little hiker... Springtime is beautiful in Western, NC! See more at my Flickr page.
